SPIA ASIA is open to individuals or entities directly or indirectly involved in investments, management and development of sports, comprising of private and public entities, governing bodies, tourism authorities, decision makers of brands, rights holders, venue owners, event organizers, federations, marketing agencies, service providers, facility developers, software developers, sports industry professionals and scholars, and other individuals and entities.

SPIA Asia has 2 major pillars:

  • The 2-days Sports Industry Business Conference with 5 major topics related to local and regional sports industry development in Asia
  • SPIA Asia Awards – recognizing the winners in 21 award categories from 47 eligible countries following an online submission process and an evaluation and scoring by an external judging committee.

SPIA ASIA – Sports Business Conference is open to individuals or entities directly or indirectly involved in investments, management and development of sports, comprising of private and public entities, governing bodies, tourism authorities, decision makers of brands, rights holders, venue owners, event organizers, federations, marketing agencies, service providers, facility developers, eSports developers, sports industry professionals and scholars, and other individuals and entities similarly classified.

Business entities planning to invest in any sports-related projects, Sports management professionals and students, regardless if they are coming within or outside of Asia are also welcome to the conference.

The SPIA ASIA Awards is open to any and all individuals or entities that are eligible as per our terms and conditions and that have submitted entries online by the entry deadline; entries can be received from federations, governing bodies, agencies, venue operators, rights holders, event organizers, sponsors, etc – submitting directly or on behalf of its client /services provider, etc.  The Top 10 entries in each category will be shortlisted and the winners will be announced during the awards gala; all submissions have to be received online and will be evaluated by an expert judging panel – the organizers are not involved in the judging.

If you are shortlisted and would like to attend the conference and awards gala, it is recommended to book your participation well in advance as the booking is on a first-come, first-served basis. With or without award entry, any individuals who belong to the above-classifications, can attend the awards gala. However, priority is given to those who have shortlisted entries.

SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference is endorsed and supported by various government entities. Once again this year, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Sports Authority of Thailand endorses and supports SPIA ASIA.

Further, SPIA ASIA is likewise supported by the Asian Football Confederation. In fact, two of the Award Categories this year came from the AFC.

Entries coming from the 47 countries, as per the definition of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), are eligible to submit. These countries include the following: Afghanistan, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, East Timor, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, North Korea, Northern Mariana Islands, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen.

Individuals and entities which have conducted activities in any of the eligible countries within the eligible period from 01 July 2017 to 31 August 2018 can submit entry. Agencies, sponsors, third parties, host venue, organizations which contributed directly or indirectly to the success of the activity and authorized to submit on behalf of their principals can also submit entries. (Example: WTA (rights holder) Porsche (Sponsor) Lagardère (Marketing Agency), Sports Hub (venue).

Yes. Agencies may enter on behalf of their clients/principal. Agencies must however ensure that they are authorized by their respective client/principal. Any marketing communication efforts, whether full campaigns or unique efforts within a campaign are eligible to enter.

The 2018 edition of SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards will only accept entries coming from the eligible countries, within the defined period from 1 July 2017 to 31 August 2018.

Submission for the 2018 Edition opens on from 26 April 2018 until 21 September 2018.

No. Submissions from Small to Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) are most welcome as long the event/campaign has run or operate in one or more of the eligible countries within the defined period from 1 July 2017 to 31 August 2018.

Each submission’s data should be by country; data should not be aggregated over several countries. As long as it can prove results and properly credit the partners who helped to create the marketing communications campaign.

No. As long as the event/campaign was planned /started /happens/happened in one or more of the eligible countries within the defined period from 1 July 2017 to 31 August 2018 the submission would be eligible and enters the judging process.

Yes. A separate entry submission is needed for each entry, subject to the conditions set-forth infra that only the shortlisted entries shall be paid for accordingly.

Yes, all entries need to be submitted in English.

Non-English language campaigns are welcome. Please note in these cases the entry must be completed in English and any supporting marketing materials which were originally another language must be accompanied by written English translation.

You can withdraw your entry at any time before the entry deadline. However, shortlisted entries cannot be withdrawn. Once shortlisted (9 October 2018) the entry is subject to the submission fee.

No. SPIA ASIA does not charge an entry fee upon submission. Only the entries in each category that make the final shortlist are committed to paying a participation fee of US$ 295.00 for Asian categories and $195.00 for the Thailand categories, respectively.

Payment shall be made online via www.spiaasia.com according to its schedule.

SPIA ASIA extends one (1) Complimentary Gala Dinner Invitation and one (1) Conference Delegate Pass per Company/Brand to all Top 10 Entries per category worth USD 695.

Yes, as a general rule. However, a change to your submitted documents once the entry deadline (21 September 2018) has passed is not permitted but you can enter in additional categories for the same event/initiative prior to the entry deadline.

Supporting materials can always be added to an existing entry subject to the entry criteria of the particular category and prior to the entry deadline.

Yes. The following are grounds for disqualification of entries: (1) Ineligible countries, date of event/campaign, and/or submitting entities; (2) Submitting entity is not registered with competent government authority, (3) Submitting low-quality entries, (4) Missed submission deadline, (5) Entry contains false or misleading or discriminatory or provocative information, and (6) Using the entry as a communication channel for political or religious views and opinions.

Security and confidentiality are of paramount importance to the SPIA Asia. All data and entry materials will be treated with utmost confidentiality by the judges and event organizers. All entries are stored in a secure place away from non-authorized personnel and shred after the Gala Presentation. Judges and those present throughout the judging are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Highly confidential data may be indexed in lieu of exact numbers but data in that form must be substantiated as much as possible and provide verifiable corroboration from as many sources as possible e.g.: research company, tracking studies, agency evaluation etc.

It is vital that the entrants provide as much context as possible re: the campaign rationale and any environmental/cultural issues that influenced the marketing strategy which produced the results.

Entrants are encouraged to be as open and specific as possible. The more details provided, the stronger the submission will be.

Details of the campaign and its results can only be published if written consent is given. Otherwise, we will only publish the activity and kits submitting entity.

Becoming a judge is a privilege accorded to any one deemed expert in the sports industry. Anyone who is interested to be part of the judging panel, shall contact The SPIA ASIA Ltd or MMC Sportz Marketing LLC to discuss the process of selection.

The judges are acknowledged experts within the industry who best understand landscape of sports industry in Asia. Judges come from various sporting industry disciplines across all fields including agencies, brands, organizers, rights holders, venue operators, etc.

Recommendations to be part of the judging panel for future Asia’s Industry Sports Awards are welcome. Kindly contact The SPIA ASIA Ltd or MMC Sportz Marketing LLC in case you would like to nominate someone for the 2019 event.

SPIA Asia has formed an advisory board (the Awards Committee) and engaged 20 industry experts to serve on the judging panel which will review and score the shortlisted finalists in strict accordance with international award standards. The judging process consists of 4 steps:

(1) Review of the submissions, (2) Validation through investigation or telephone/ direct interviews to do a deeper dive on the best shortlisted submissions in each category, (3) Shortlisting and announcement of all the shortlisted submission finalists, (4) First Round of Judging of Shortlisted category entries, and (5) Final review of the shortlisted submission finalists by the judging panel.

To ensure and maintain transparency and credibility throughout the entire judging process, necessary measures are established in verifying entries, handling and securing of all written and digital materials relating to the results, for compiling the score reports and certifying to the accuracy of the scores within the report.

No representatives of SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards & Conference will be involved in the judging process.

SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards will announce the shortlisted entries on 9 October 2018 but final voting will not happen until 19 November 2018. The announcement of the Winners is scheduled for the Gala Presentation Ceremony on the evening of 20 November 2018.

SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards delegates need to make a separate table booking in order to attend the Awards Gala dinner. SPIA ASIA – Asia’s Sports Industry Awards offers delegate table bookings and VIP table bookings via SPIA ASIA’s website –  Book Now . Please note that table bookings are limited in numbers and subject to availability on the day of inquiry, considering the expected attendees from 47 countries.

The Sports Conference is aimed to bring regional sport industry experts to meet with the top officials within the regional sports landscape. The conference segment entitled “The Business of Sports – Asia’s Sports Industry in the Fastlane IV” is scheduled to take place from 19-20 November 2018 in Bangkok, once again will gather the industry leaders during a two-day period to discuss best practices and latest developments within the sports industry with key focus on Asia. Delegates and Industry experts are expected to address a variety of current topics.

Becoming a speaker is a privilege granted to anyone considered as expert in sports industry. Whoever wants to be a speaker shall contact The SPIA ASIA LTD or MMC Sportz Marketing LLC to know the process of selection.

No payment is required for the food and beverages during the conference and networking activities.

One of the aims of the SPIA ASIA Sports Conference is to gather high profile industry experts and decision-makers. Networking reception, networking lunch and other activities are an add-on features of the conference for expanding business contacts and opportunities.

Yes. All delegates of the prestigious international sports conference shall be awarded with Certificate of Attendance duly signed by the officials of the organizer and Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand.
