Benjamin Tan joined the FA Thailand, the governing body of football in Thailand and the leading
professional league in ASEAN – Thai League in 2016 as its Deputy CEO. He is currently responsible for
overseeing the professional football league management as well as implementing the FA Thailand’s 20-
year strategic master plan. He also oversees the football club licensing system in which includes
ensuring good governance, improving technical and club professional administrative standards and and
working with various key stakeholders in achieving its goals.
With a global experience and a strong sports administration background particularly in football for close
to 20 years, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) appointed Benjamin as it’s consultant to assist
member associations and professional leagues in league and clubs development.
During his 6-year tenure with the AFC (2008-2014), he was Head of Club Competitions and involved in
the team that revamped the AFC Champions League and competition brand which is celebrating it’s 10-
year anniversary in 2018. He was also involved in two FIFA World Cups and AFC Asian Cup leading and
coordinating with stakeholders and venue team in delivering the events.
Prior to the AFC, Benjamin has also worked in FA Singapore in the Competitions Department for 8 years
(2000-2008) organising various international and domestic competitions and events. He returned to FA
Singapore for 15 months (2014-2016) as it’s Deputy Director of Development and Planning before
joining the FA Thailand.
Benjamin holds a Mass Communications degree from Edith Cowan University (Australia).
